Members of the Abuja Global Shapers Community have received with grief the sad news of the taking away of the former United Nations Secretary-General and Nobel Peace Laureate, Kofi Annan.
We fondly recall his role in supporting democracy across the world, especially his role in supporting the transition from military to civilian rule in Nigeria in 1998; among other prominent roles he played in ensuring global peace, unity and his unfettered commitment towards the uplifting of Africa.
We join members of his family and the Kofi Annan Foundation to mourn the great loss to the world.
His passion for peace, for the improved welfare of people, suffering and the general well-being of the world’s citizens would never be erased from our hearts.
