Recycle for Education
A circular-economy initiative turning recovered plastic waste into scholarships for out-of-school children in Abuja's IDP communities.
Recycle for Education combines plastic collection drives, a network of community champions, and educational scholarships funded by recycling proceeds, targeting out-of-school children in Abuja's IDP communities. To date the project has collected 1,623 kg of plastic, generated NGN 162,438 in recycling proceeds, selected 30 scholarship beneficiaries, recruited 80 community champions, and reached over 7,000 people through digital climate awareness. It was named one of twelve global winners of the 2025 World Economic Forum Innovation Prize. Project Leads: Ifechi Anikwe, Gift Agboro.
